The Wild Moose Chase has been touted as one of the best trail runs in the Pacific Northwest over recent years.  See what all the excitement is about on this awesome trail run on Mt. Spokane. 5k, 10k, and 25k distances available.

Race FAQs


Registration includes t-shirt and an epic trail run through Mt. Spokane trail system. Due to the logistics of timing, no race day registration will be accepted. Shirts are only guaranteed for participants registering more than 10 days before the race. Shirts are on a first come first serve basis for those registering less than 10 days before. Remember vehicles parking on Mt. Spokane are required to have a discover pass. Discover passes are available online (https://discoverpass.wa.gov)

Online registration closes on October 3rd, 2019 at 11:59pm. Late registration will still be available at packet pick-up Friday, October 4, 2019.

Start Times

25k – 8:30AM

10k – 9:00AM

5k – 9:30AM

Packet pick-up

Packet pick-up will take place at REI downtown Spokane on Friday, 10/4/19. Hours will be from 4pm – 7pm.  If you are unable to make it to packet pick-up, a friend may pick up your packet for you. Left over bib numbers will be transported to the start area.

Event Parking

Event parking is located in the the snowmobile and cross country ski parking lots at Mt. Spokane.  Make sure you have a discover pass so you don’t get a ticket!  Passes are available online (https://discoverpass.wa.gov). Single day passes can be purchesed online and printed immediately for use. Passes ARE NOT available the morning of the race at the race start!

Rules & Timing

Negative Split is committed to providing a safe and fair racing environment for all participants. Please adhere to the following rules and restrictions.

  • Bib numbers must be worn on the front of your person for timing. Failure to do so may result in a DNF time.
  • Dogs and pets are not allowed on the course for safety of all participants


Please note that this event takes place on uneven trail in the wilderness and spectators acknowledge that they will be watching this event at their own risk. Event organizers are not responsible or liable for and injury, death, or other unforeseen circumstance that happens to spectators.


We will have Photoboxx free social media photos on race day.  Follow the steps below to get your free prints…

  1. Take a photo with your phone
  2. Post it to Instagram or Twitter with #nsplit
  3. Come by the photo booth for your free photo!


Congrats on your finish!  Come to our post run celebration tent for hydration and snacks.


Awards will be given for the top 3 male and female overall runners in each distance category. 5k awards – 10:15am, 10k awards – 10:30am, 25k awards – 11:30am
